They have invited community leaders to attend their local celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The EiE events, scheduled for the third week in February, are designed to show off the hard work of Classical Conversations\u2019 (CC) students and to demonstrate the classical model of education to local leaders, according to Robert Bortins, CEO of Classical Conversations, the world\u2019s largest homeschooling organization following the classical model of education.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, the observed federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February is actually called \u201cWashington\u2019s Birthday.\u201d The day is also widely known as\u00a0Presidents Day\u00a0and is often an occasion to honor 16th president Abraham Lincoln, the incumbent president and all persons who have served as\u00a0<a title=\"List of Presidents of the United States\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States\">president<\/a>, not just George Washington. The holiday varies widely by state and may be called Washington\u2019s Birthday,\u00a0Presidents\u2019 Day,\u00a0President\u2019s Day, or\u00a0Washington\u2019s and Lincoln\u2019s Birthday. Washington\u2019s birthday is Feb. 22, and Lincoln\u2019s birthday is Feb. 12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe our Excellence in Education event is very helpful in explaining homeschooling to the community,\u201d Bortins said.\u00a0\u201cI love that our students get a chance to showcase how well-rounded they are.\u00a0They greet.\u00a0They serve. They present. Our CC communities pull together to support this event, so there is also teamwork.\u00a0We are also excited to be able to host many important local leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The short program will be followed by a luncheon. CC Communities have invited the community leaders to stay for lunch with CC families, which will be served by the older students.<\/p>\n<p>Classical Conversations\u00ae\u00a0is a classical education resource used by homeschoolers in all 50 states and 39 foreign countries. CC now has more than 121,000 students enrolled in its tutoring programs, which are provided by 2,500 CC communities.\u00a0CC provides resources, guidance and a community for a Christian homeschool curriculum using classical education in three developmental stages: grammar, dialectic and rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>Leigh Bortins started Classical Conversations in 1997.
