The earliest English definition of habit<\/em> is: \u201cto garb, dress, or clothe.\u201d \ufffc \u00a0This meaning stems from the Latin<\/strong><\/a> root, habitus,<\/em>\u00a0which means “condition, demeanor, appearance, dress.”<\/p>\n

Modern English speakers rarely use this definition anymore except in the cases of a \u201cnun\u2019s habit\u201d or a \u201criding habit.\u201d For our purposes, let\u2019s return to the original definition as we consider the Five Core Habits of Grammar.<\/p>\n
