With Christmas fast approaching, there\u2019s no better time than now to incorporate some homeschool Christmas activities into your days and continue learning during the holiday break through fun and engaging ways.<\/p>\n

10 Festive Homeschool Christmas Activities<\/h2>\n

We know the holiday season can be busy, so we\u2019ll cut right to the chase. Here are ten homeschool Christmas activities your whole family can enjoy to keep learning this December!<\/p>\n

1. Create Christmas Tree Ornaments<\/h3>\n

Gather materials from around the house or from your homeschool room<\/a>\u2014such as yarn, ribbons, beads, construction paper, and crayons\u2014and help your child create their very own ornaments to decorate your Christmas tree with.<\/p>\n

This is a perfect activity to do with little learners, so make sure to hang on to these ornaments for years that follow. As your student grows up, he or she will look back with fond memories each Christmas as they hang their creations on the tree. And of course, this is a great hands-on activity to help build your young child\u2019s fine-motor skills!<\/p>\n

2. Attend a Christmas Performance<\/h3>\n

Whether it\u2019s a play produced by the local town theater, a musical performance hosted by your church, or a classic Christmas movie re-released at a nearby movie theater, attending a Christmas-themed production is guaranteed to put you and your family in a festive spirit.<\/p>\n

Plus, shows like these are an opportunity to teach your child about the stories and music that characterize this holiday season!<\/p>\n

3. Read Aloud a Christmas Story<\/h3>\n

Another excellent homeschool Christmas activity is simply to read aloud your favorite Christmas story. Whether it\u2019s The Polar Express<\/em>, A Christmas Carol<\/em>, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever<\/em><\/a>, or some other Christmas tale, reading aloud together with the family at Christmas time (especially if hot chocolate, blankets, and the fireplace are involved!) will create special memories while learning together.<\/p>\n

4. Make a Christmas Treat (or Many!)<\/h3>\n

Build a gingerbread house, decorate cookies in the shapes of snowmen and Christmas trees, make peppermint bark or fudge, or bake a Christmas-themed cake! As you create some of these Christmas goodies, enjoy not only the smells and tastes of the delicious desserts but also your family\u2019s company as you make something amazing together!<\/p>\n

5. Create Christmas Cards<\/h3>\n

This year, try something different with Christmas cards. Rather than sending out a family photo to loved ones, consider having your student create unique Christmas cards with construction paper and crayons.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, if your student shows in interest in graphic design, they could use free design software (like Canva<\/a>) to create a Christmas card to print out and send to family and friends.<\/p>\n

6. Write a Christmas Story<\/h3>\n

Have your student to write their own Christmas story! This is a great homeschool Christmas activity for students of all ages, as the story can vary in complexity depending on your child\u2019s learning level.<\/p>\n

You can either set parameters for the story, such as encouraging your student to incorporate Christmas themes like giving or new life, or leave this project entirely up to your student. Either way, encourage him or her to get creative with it!<\/p>\n

7. Learn a Christmas Carol (and Go Caroling!)<\/h3>\n

Choose a favorite Christmas carol, such as \u201cSilent Night,\u201d \u201cO Come, All Ye Faithful,\u201d or \u201cHark! The Herald Angels Sing,\u201d and practice singing it together as a family.<\/p>\n

If you discover your family has a hidden talent for caroling, gather friends from your local Classical Conversations\u00ae community, bundle up, and head out into the neighborhood to sing carols, bring festive cheer, and share the good news of Jesus Christ to your neighbors!<\/p>\n

8. Go Look at Christmas Lights<\/h3>\n

Hop in the car for a drive around your neighborhood or downtown to gaze in awe at the Christmas lights and decorations! Like most activities on this list, this is an inexpensive way to celebrate Christmas with the whole family. On your drive, turn on your favorite Christmas music to enjoy along the journey!<\/p>\n

9. Host a Christmas Party<\/h3>\n

Invite friends from church and members from your local community to celebrate Christmas together with a party. To keep things entertaining, consider doing a white elephant gift exchange, decorating Christmas cookies, or watching a funny Christmas movie during the event.<\/p>\n

Hosting a Christmas party can also be a great way to make use of your Christmas treats if you made too many for just your family!<\/p>\n

10. Give Back to Others<\/h3>\n

Amidst all the fun and festivities with friends and family, it\u2019s easy to forget that not everyone is fortunate enough to celebrate the holidays with loved ones and parties.<\/p>\n

So, this Christmas, consider seizing an opportunity to give back to those in need, whether that\u2019s donating gift boxes to an organization like Operation Christmas Child<\/a>, gathering canned goods for a local food bank, or making blankets to give out at a homeless shelter. In addition, these are all excellent ways to teach your children that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts but also about giving back to others.<\/p>\n
