Community is at the heart of a Classical Conversations\u00ae<\/sup> membership. Indeed, access to a community of local homeschoolers sets us apart<\/a> from many other homeschool programs, since most are “curriculum-only.”<\/p>\n

So, why is community important?<\/p>\n

3 Reasons Why Classical Conversations Families Love Community<\/h2>\n

If you ask any Classical Conversations member what they love about their local community, chances are they will respond with at least one of these three answers: support, accountability, and friendship.<\/p>\n

\u2018As iron sharpens iron\u2019 \u2014 my CC community encourages me to grow in my understanding of the classical model, so I can be a better teacher to my kids at home. I would not be the homeschooling parent I am without their support!\u201d<\/p>\n

1. Community Offers Support<\/h3>\n

Being part of a local community of other homeschool families means that Classical Conversations members support one another as they walk the homeschooling journey together. For example, trained Licensed Directors and Tutors not only lead students through the material but also explain to parents how to continue learning the material with their children at home.<\/p>\n

This level of hands-on, practical support gives parents the confidence to homeschool their students. That is, when parents struggle with teaching or understanding certain subject material (that’s when<\/em>, not if<\/em>!), they can just reach out to their Director or another parent for guidance.<\/p>\n

The structure and accountability from another adult were invaluable. When you are responsible to someone besides your parent, there is an extra motivation.”<\/p>\n

2. Community Brings Structure, Which Means Accountability<\/h3>\n

Another reason to love Classical Conversations communities is the accountability that comes with the structure of each program. Because families in each Classical Conversations community all work through the same curriculum, they stay motivated to keep up with the rest of the group.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, if families homeschool without community<\/a>, it’s difficult to stay on track! By walking the same path together, families can rest assured knowing they have others around to encourage them when homeschooling is hard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My CC community has been like a second family. Everyone genuinely cares for each other. They have made me feel safe with a child with special needs.” \u2013 Rory\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

3. Community Provides Friendship<\/h3>\n

Lastly and unsurprisingly, community means friendship. As families walk the homeschooling journey together hand-in-hand in a local Classical Conversations community, more often than not both parents and students alike form lasting friendships with one another.<\/p>\n

In many ways, Classical Conversations communities are the antithesis to the overused rebuttal against homeschooling: “What about socialization?” In community, students often progress through Foundations<\/a>, Essentials<\/a>, and Challenge<\/a> with the same peers, meaning that they can really get to know one another over the elementary to high school years. In the same way, parents can form lasting friendships as they support and encourage one another. So, local communities often become second families to homeschool parents and students.<\/p>\n

Connect With a Local Community<\/h2>\n

For both parents and students alike, being part of a local community means receiving support, accountability, and friendship along the homeschooling journey. By walking the same path together, families encourage and uplift one another to homeschool with confidence.<\/p>\n
